Bretts Driving School - Chesterfield

Bretts Driving School Chesterfield. Driving lessons Chesterfield.

After a successful career in logistics I decided to share my 24 years of driving experience, becoming a fully qualified ADI in 2001. Initially covering Sheffield, Worksop and Chesterfield I soon founded Bretts Driving School. This is now well established and predominantly covers Chesterfield, its surrounding areas and occasionally Buxton.
In November 2009 I achieved top marks for “attitude and approach to pupils” in my check test, as well as scoring a high grade in all other categories.

You Need To Be Safe On The Road

Learning to drive requires that you understand the rules of the road, the different aspects of your vehicle, and the defensive methods that will keep you safe. Operating a motor vehicle is a great privilege that requires you understand all of the important details that will keep you safely driving.

All of these aspects are important to your ability to stay safe on the road. Five of the most important things you should know are in this article. Here is information about car insurance, car for safety, aggressive drivers, and defensive driving. When you are learning to drive, you must consider all of these items.

Costs of insurance can be high and difficult to pay every month; however, if you do not have insurance and you continue to drive you could be putting yourself in danger of losing your license, high fines, and even possibly jail time. Some things you can do to reduce the costs of car insurance include taking defensive driving courses and being careful to avoid even small accidents.

Importance of insurance is not just about keeping your license after you learn to drive, but also to protect you and your passengers in case of an accident - it can happen to anyone. You can be driving along peacefully, and someone pulls out in front of you or slams into your back-end. If your state requires insurance and you are hit without having insurance, you are legally responsible for the accident.

Your car insurance is not the only important thing you need - you need to make sure you keep up on the needs of your car. For instance, you should always be checking your car to make sure it is operating correctly and safely. You should monitor your car’s fluids, tires, and other needs of your vehicle. Running out of gas on the highway can cause an accident as you try to get to the side of the road. A sudden flat tire can damage your vehicle and even cause you to drive off the road.

It is important to drive defensively, as this is the only way to be aware of other drivers that may be driving aggressively or not paying attention to other drivers. When you are driving defensively, you have accomplished the next major safety need of driving and will be safer on the road.

Some dangers that happen from aggressive drivers are caused by speeding, failing to stop or give right of way, and not looking when in parking lots or pulling out from driveways. Your driving should always be defensive and avoiding aggressive behavior on the road.

Understanding the rules of the road is essential when learning to drive. This requires not only road rules and regulations but also the safety of your vehicle and the safety of other drivers on the road. When you are learning to drive, be sure to read your vehicle’s manual, the state book on driving, get car insurance, and watch out for aggressive drivers that could put you at risk.

driving school tenterden, driving lessons tenterden, driving instructor tenterden

Test Centres Covered: Ashford & Folkestone. As a Driving Instructor I teach a life skill. Indeed, when people ask what I do for a living they initially appear surprised, explaining that at 33 years old surely I’m a bit young.. I view this as an advantage as I find it easy to create a relaxed atmosphere with those younger pupils. This of course helps greatly in their learning, all the while retaining that suitable professionalism, naturally.

Unless You’re Wearing A Badge My Driving Is My Own Business

That’s when it hit me, tomorrow I get my very first driver’s license. It is just a learner’s permit and I will have to an experienced driver with me but I am on my way to joining my friends in this newfound freedom. Having studied the Rules of the Road from cover to cover I might not miss even one question on the examination.

“Rules of the Road” is the name driving manuals come to be known by. It is the bible of the driver both young and old. At first, such instructions as: “driver on the right yield right of way to driver on the left” make no sense. At an all way stop intersection if the other driver is on your right he/she should go first is what they mean.

Using the public highways gets you where you want to go but puts you in contact with lots of others. Emergency vehicles, school buses, law enforcement, national leaders and mostly ordinary people ride the roads. When you stint on your driving education and aren’t sure if a certain sign is merely warning you or telling you it is a law, trouble is brewing. Passing a stopped school bus isn’t just reckless it may take the life of a youngster. Driving faster than the posted limit isn’t smart either.

Films about air combat often mention how the inexperienced pilots found flying late in the last big war were no match for old veterans. The same thing holds true with new drivers. They have seen fewer situations and thus have not gained valuable experience.

Having paid attention in science classes in school will keep you in touch with the forces a heavy vehicle traveling at high speed is subject to. Centrifugal force, for instance, experienced going around a curve requires the driver to enter the curve and then speed up getting out of it. This will be uncomfortable at first but then become second nature.

Braking your vehicle is something you will develop a feel for. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) put a computer system there to help. Thousands of times per second the computer applies the brakes and then releases them. Law enforcement officials crashed many vehicles when ABS was first introduced. No more pumping the brake on modern cars.

Air bags, seat belts, steering columns that collapse and don’t impale drivers have all added to driving safety. However, the biggest safety feature in highway travel has always been the driver. Recently use of cell phone and even texting while driving has created the so-called perfect storm.

Regardless of the expense of the vehicle and its number of safety features there is a beloved member of a European royal family lying dead today. No question driving is at first a thrill and taste of independence which later becomes access to a conveyance for business and source of pride and evidence of success. Never forget it can kill you too.

Driving Schools Gloucester - Driving lessons also in Cheltenham

My pupil base is constantly increasing as happy new drivers are recommending my services. My style is to create a relaxed, often humorous atmosphere in the car, as I believe nervous pupils are able to learn more quickly when they feel at ease. For this reason I have never considered ‘car sharing’. All lessons are one to one and tailored for you.

Watching Them Learning To Drive

As rites of passage go, they don’t come very much bigger than learning to drive. It marks a definite pivotal moment in an adolescent’s life when they take their first tentative steps towards striking out by themselves. The ever-considerate parent is forced to go through this with them, and it’s generally with no small amount of stress. You sit next to them in the car and try to ignore the distressing sounds coming from your cars gearbox and the distinctive smell of burnt clutch. Frankly, it’s quite an effort. You are also expected to do this while remaining positive and supportive, and alert enough to avert potential hazards.

However, your position in the passenger seat is a vital one. Driving on modern roads is a heady mixture of good luck, honed technique, and a considerable amount of experience. It is our job to provide this experience at this stage. You should be well place to anticipate pitfalls before tragic consequences ensue.

The trick to avoiding each session riding shotgun turning into a fraught and stressful one is good preparation. Try to practice skills that are currently being taught in their paid for sessions with a qualified instructor. Take each of the necessary skills required one at a time, and have some realistic expectations in your mind for each session.

As suggested, experience is by far the best teacher so give the learner the chance to practice their skills and improve their abilities on a variety of roads in a range of prevailing conditions. Try to take in rush hour traffic and fast, multi-lane, carriageways. The importance of night driving and driving in adverse weather conditions cannot be overstated either.

One tip for safe driving is to give the novice the chance to work with the sort of roads they will spend most of their early driving careers driving on. These are those roads to be found around your home. By example, I lived in a pretty rural location, but did my lesions after work each day in a neighbouring city. I did most of my driving on narrow, winding, lanes despite never having touched upon these during my lessons.

The first place you should take the new driver ought to be a deserted car park. This allows a wide-open space where the basic manoeuvres and skills can be perfected. These might be braking and turning. If possible, lay out a makeshift course with any traffic cones that can be found lying about. With just a bit of imagination you can create an opportunity to practice gear changes, around corner reversing, and the feared parallel park, in safety.

As a car owner one area you can impart some invaluable knowledge is that of basic maintenance and the basic safety checks that are just as muck a part of driving. These things are never touched upon by driving instructors. Things like changing a wheel, where the tools are, and how to top up the oil should be covered.

In short, if thing are kept well structured and simple you should both really enjoy this time. Make lessons out of the mistakes that will crop up and tackle things with the right attitude and this may become something of a bonding opportunity.

Choosing a Driving school

Hi! I’m Tim and I own the Drivers Ed’ Company.

Great lessons at a great price is what we all want when we learn to drive. The problem is how to find a driving school that really does offer great lessons at a great price. Well, here are a few questions to ask and our answers to them.

  • Are you a fully qualified ADI? Yes. All ADI’s have gone through a three very hard examinations. You can be certain that an instructor with a green badge knows how to teach.
  • What grade are you? All instructors are graded one to six by the DSA. Grade six is the highest. The grades reflect how the instructor performed in their DSA inspection. We are all grade four or five.
  • What is your approximate pass rate? They are a guide to how successful the instructor is over a long period. It will only be an approximate pass rate. Ours are between 55 and 60%. Our local test centre passes about 45%.
  • Do you follow a structured course? This will save you a lot of We use the Driving Skills Programme which is about to be approved as a national qualification.
