How to Save Money With Driving Lessons
Driving lessons Milton Keynes
Driving lessons are expensive but there are a number of ways you could try to save money with driving lessons.
1) Book for 5 lessons or more to get the quantity discount, i.e. block booking. Most of the driving schools offer this service, so you can book driving lessons in advance and get discounts. You can still choose the time and date but it all depends upon your availability and your driving instructor’s availability. The downside of block booking is that if you are not happy with your instructor for some reason, you might get stuck with him/her until you have taken all the hours.
The solution is to take 1st lesson and if you are happy with the instructor pay him/her for the block booking and get discount, your instructor would be more than happy to do that.
2) Read the Highway Code thoroughly to understand the rules and explanation, which the examiners are particularly interested to see that you understand. Highway Code rules and explanation are very easy to understand, do not just keep the book on the shelf, read it thoroughly. You can get one from your local book store, it only cost few pounds but this book is a necessary tool for anyone who is driving or learning to drive.
Most students have this misconception that because they are the rules, they are written in legal language, they are written in simple English and easy for you to understand. Even if you do have any problem understanding them, ask your driving instructor to explain.
As long as you read the Highway Code thoroughly and acquire knowledge of the rules, you can put them in practice during your driving lessons. This way you would have a better chance of passing your driving test easily and also saving money with driving lessons.
3) After every lesson write down in detail
What you have learnt?
What were your mistakes?
What you have improved?
And what you practiced during the lesson?
It is also important to revise it before the driving lesson so you will be better prepared for your lesson, this way you would be able to save time and thus lots of money.
Easily said then done for most students. If you are taking one lesson every week it is very easy to forget, what you have learnt in the last lesson. Do not be lazy about writing it down, as soon as you finish your lesson; write it down in detail about your lesson. Your aim should be to write your mistakes, and what you have improved as well as what new you have learnt in the lesson. Your driving instructor would be more than happy to help you with the recap before and after the lesson.
4) Lastly, if you have some one in your family or friends, who has got a license for more than 3 years they might be able to help, they can sit with you in a car while you practice your driving skills. You need to get the insurance for this purpose. This way you would be able to save a lot of money with your driving lessons.
The downside is not everyone has the patience to teach, and driving instructions do require a lot of patience. Also an experienced driver might pass on driving skills which might not be approved by the driving standards agency and the examiners.
Learning to drive could be very expensive but it is an investment for life and it does open a world of opportunities for everyone including you.
Saad Saleem writes on a variety of subjects including learning to drive and safe driving for life.

New Driving School Car
I have been on the lookout for a new car for my driving school in Ballymena, after reading loads of reviews and reflecting on the downsides of my current car I decided that I needed a car that was safe, comfortable, stylish and easy to drive.
My current car is petrol and it has caused some problems with pupils who have already been learning to drive in diesel cars, they find it difficult to find clutch bite and most have not been taught to set the gas, we have been able to overcome this problem with a little practice and perseverance, some however were not prepared to persevere and decided they only wanted to learn to drive in a diesel.
The other downside to my current car was that it did not have air conditioning, the problem here was that on a cold day during driving lessons the car would steam up and we would have to open the windows to allow them to clear, on warmer days the inside of the car could get very hot and uncomfortable especially during manoeuvres.
With all this taken into consideration it became obvious that my next driving school car would have to be safe, comfortable, easy to drive, diesel, and have air conditioning.
I had heard great reports about the Toyota Yaris from other driving instructors in Ballymena who use these cars for their driving schools.A Driving Instructor friend of mine then asked me if I could do him a favour by taking a pupil for a pre-test lesson and driving test in his car.As his car is a Toyota Yaris this not only gave me the opportunity to test drive the car but also to instruct in it.
I found the Toyota Yaris to be very easy to drive and most forgiving as well as comfortable and very stylish, it really ticked all the boxes and as Ballymena test centre is just opposite the local Toyota dealer I was able to nip in while the pupil was on test and strike a deal!
Delivery times were also very fast, so in a few days time Joe’s Driver Training will be teaching pupils to drive in a brand new Toyota Yaris 14 D4D!!

Finally… Practical Driving Tips You Can Use For Safer Driving Habits
Understanding the importance of road safety is something we should all strive to achieve as it can directly or indirectly affect ourselves and others on the road. For a learner driver, one of the best ways to gain this understanding is by attending driving school.
So what makes driving school the ideal place to learn such knowledge? First of all, all driving schools go through a rigorous training process which ensures they’re up to speed with all laws that govern driving in their respective state or country. To ensure a solid understanding of the theory behind driving, what better place to start but in a driving school.
Basic road safety begins before we even start our cars. You should check all the tires for pressure and that oil and water levels are sufficient . It’s important to make sure that your lights and signals are operating so that other drivers on the road can be made aware of your intention to turn corners or merge into another lane. For many of us experienced drivers, we can do these things in a few moments while walking to our car but for the novice driver, it’s a process they need to learn.
Secondly, learner drivers should familiarise themselves with the car they intend to drive. The power a car contains varies from each model. If the family car is a powerful vehicle and differs from the one they’ve used at the driving school, spend some time with them before allowing them to take the car out on their own.
Drink driving pedestrians, mobile phones and other drivers on the road. These are all major distractions which can result in you being involved in a car accident. It does not even have to be your fault! It’s often said that it’s not the accident that you see that kills you, but the one you don’t see. In recent years, many driving schools have included a larger syllabus in regards to distractions while driving. Many law enforcement agencies have also taken a hard line against such things by introducing new laws that forbid driving while intoxicated or talking and texting on a mobile phone while driving.
Finally, if your car should break down, you should put on your hazard lights so that other motorists are aware there is a problem. Discuss a plan for your child to follow if any problems should occur such as a break down and what numbers they can call for assistance if you’re registered for road side service.

Choosing a Driving school
Hi! I’m Tim and I own the Drivers Ed’ Company.
Great lessons at a great price is what we all want when we learn to drive. The problem is how to find a driving school that really does offer great lessons at a great price. Well, here are a few questions to ask and our answers to them.
- Are you a fully qualified ADI? Yes. All ADI’s have gone through a three very hard examinations. You can be certain that an instructor with a green badge knows how to teach.
- What grade are you? All instructors are graded one to six by the DSA. Grade six is the highest. The grades reflect how the instructor performed in their DSA inspection. We are all grade four or five.
- What is your approximate pass rate? They are a guide to how successful the instructor is over a long period. It will only be an approximate pass rate. Ours are between 55 and 60%. Our local test centre passes about 45%.
- Do you follow a structured course? This will save you a lot of We use the Driving Skills Programme which is about to be approved as a national qualification.

Fees for the PASS PLUS course will vary depending on where you live and the instructor or driving school you choose. Bear in mind too that it will take a minimum of six hours, all of which need to be taken after passing your test. If more sessions are needed for you to successfully complete the course, this may add to the cost.
When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme. The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, you may even save more than you paid for the course. - boost your confidence
if you feel nervous driving on your own, the PASS PLUS training can help you become more confident on the roads - give peace of mind to your loved ones
- PASS PLUS consists of six practical modules which cover driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways. You can take it at any time within the first 12 month of passing your test.
- There is no test at the end of it – your driving will be continually assessed and you must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard:
- achieved – successfully reached the standard required for each of the competencies
- exceeded – exceeded the required standard for each of the competencies
In exceptional circumstances, if a module can’t be done on the road it will be covered in a theory session. The highest level you can reach is ‘achieved’ as you’ve not been able to demonstrate the relevant practical skills.
Don’t worry if you haven’t got a car at the moment, you may be able to defer the discount for up to two years. Again, check with your insurance company.
If you passed your test more than a year ago you should check that you’ll be eligible for the discounts on offer from your insurance company before you take the course.
