Driving Test

Are driving lessons too difficult?

Can you be too careful? We have seen an incredible rise in the costs of Driving Lessons in Milton Keynes, passed onto individuals and companies alike, in funding the state run HSE (health and safety executive). Are we really so scared that we’re prepared to pay through the roof for such a service?

Is this right? Whilst there can be no serious argument that living and working in a safe and secure environment is preferential, society as a whole seems to have got it into it’s head that no one should ever be injured or killed ever - and damn the cost in making it so.

It is a fact that accidents happen, they always have and always will. So rather than running the expense of a massive state led safety gestapo, it must surely be time to return to the days of self responsibility, taking account for our own health and safety.

To that extent, and as an example of how far we’ve gone in the UK on our paranoia of injury, learning to drive in the UK has evolved from what was a common sense driving test, to a written exam, hazard awareness test, car maintenance as well as a tightly marked practical examination.

Addressing the need to produce safe drivers surely has to be balanced against the cost of producing them. It is already an expensive exercise to learn to drive. Those doing so are also young, often not earning and are most likely the people least likely to be able to afford lessons.

Down under, Australia has a far more typically pragmatic approach to driver safety. Rather than making new learner drivers spend a fortune (it’s still expensive mind) on unneeded testing, they are forced to highlight to other road users that they are inexperienced drivers by having to display bright green P plates on their vehicle for two years from passing their test. The costs of which a couple of dollars. The P in this case refers to the fact that a new driver is only given a provisional license until they are deemed experienced enough to be full drivers.

If it was the case that the UK had a sparkling safety record on the roads (compared to other EU countries we are low on the safety record despite the new test regime) then there may be an argument for the costs of all those additional parts to the driving test. The fact of the matter is the HSE and DVLA have systematically put in place systems and procedures which, whilst creating marginal improvements in safety, have generated themselves millions of pounds. Call me cynical but it smells of another stealth tax rather than a concerned effort to make driving safer.

Experience is the only genuine way to become a better driver. Of course, some things will always go wrong, accidents do happen and although this is of course not good news, is a hard fact of life. We are never going to eradicate this so let’s cut out these needless costs.

If you are looking for affordable driving lessons in Derby, then check out thIn e A38 driving school. Idealy suited to learner drivers or those needing a confidence boost. They also provide access to Polish speaking instructors.

Are Intensive Driving Courses for You?

So, what is an intensive driving course?

Everyone is different and the number of hours training/practice required to reach the appropriate standard for the driving test will vary from person to person. In my experience, the number of hours required for the average person varied between 25 to 35. Obviously, some people will do this quicker and others longer. Much depends on any previous road experience (had driving lessons previously, driven a moped/motorbike), their level of spatial awareness (the ability to judge distance, speed and angles) and any private practice they may undertake. Some people take to driving like a duck to water, others do not!

New Driving School Car

Joe’s Driver Training

I have been on the lookout for a new car for my driving school in Ballymena, after reading loads of reviews and reflecting on the downsides of my current car I decided that I needed a car that was safe, comfortable, stylish and easy to drive.

My current car is petrol and it has caused some problems with pupils who have already been learning to drive in diesel cars, they find it difficult to find clutch bite and most have not been taught to set the gas, we have been able to overcome this problem with a little practice and perseverance, some however were not prepared to persevere and decided they only wanted to learn to drive in a diesel.

The other downside to my current car was that it did not have air conditioning, the problem here was that on a cold day during driving lessons the car would steam up and we would have to open the windows to allow them to clear, on warmer days the inside of the car could get very hot and uncomfortable especially during manoeuvres.

With all this taken into consideration it became obvious that my next driving school car would have to be safe, comfortable, easy to drive, diesel, and have air conditioning.

I had heard great reports about the Toyota Yaris from other driving instructors in Ballymena who use these cars for their driving schools.A Driving Instructor friend of mine then asked me if I could do him a favour by taking a pupil for a pre-test lesson and driving test in his car.As his car is a Toyota Yaris this not only gave me the opportunity to test drive the car but also to instruct in it.

I found the Toyota Yaris to be very easy to drive and most forgiving as well as comfortable and very stylish, it really ticked all the boxes and as Ballymena test centre is just opposite the local Toyota dealer I was able to nip in while the pupil was on test and strike a deal!
Delivery times were also very fast, so in a few days time Joe’s Driver Training will be teaching pupils to drive in a brand new Toyota Yaris 14 D4D!!

Learning To Drive An Automatic In Dundee

Dundee is covered by 2Pass.eu Driving School.

Most drivers in the UK drive manual cars. It has been this way ever since the motor car was invented. In other parts of the world more people drive automatic cars. Although the process is slow, more UK drivers are opting for automatics.

A semi automatic gearbox is a manual gearbox with an automatic clutch, so there is no clutch pedal. To change gear you need to push the gearstick one way or another, either up a gear or down a gear.

Dundee is an area where you can receive driving tuition in an automatic car if you learn with 2Pass eu Driving School.

Just like any town or city in the UK, this area has several qualified driving instructors.

2Pass.eu Driving School are one of the few driving schools who ensure that our driving tuition is of the highest standard. We achieve this through the use of fully qualified driving instructors who have passed all of the necessary examinations in order to be registered by the Driving Standards Agency.

You can recognise a fully qualified driving instructor by looking for his or her badge which will be near to the road tax disc. Have a look at the car’s windscreen, if the badge is triangular and red, the instructor is still training and therefore not fully qualified. If the badge is octagonal and green, he or she is a fully qualified driving instructor. We only recommend driving tuition from green badge holders.

A fully qualified 2Pass.eu Driving School driving instructor can guide you to driving test success in the shortest possible time. As the saying goes ‘time is money’ so we try to keep the time it takes you to learn to drive, as short as possible. Driving tuition from a 2Pass.eu Driving Instructor is a wise investment!

Automatic cars have changed in recent years. Technology is always developing new ways to do things and this is true also of automatic cars. No longer do all automatic cars pull forward or back when either ‘drive’ or ‘reverse’ is selected.

The creation of multi modes is changing the way automatics perform and manufacturers such as Toyota are investing huge sums of money to make their models safer. The Yaris is a good example of this.

Not all automatics perform the same. As with most things, there are different types of automatic cars. There is however one feature thing that all automatics lack and that is the clutch. When learning in an automatic car you will only need one foot to control the brake and the accelerator.

Depending on where you live, learning to drive is a process more important for some than for others. For example if you live in an area well served by public transport and close to amenities, driving is not so important as for someone who lives quite far from the centre of activities and with poor public transport.

Driving tuition is however available to all who can afford it. Who you choose though could make a substantial difference to how much you pay in order to learn to drive.

On the one hand you could choose to be taught by an expert. One who has lots of experience and has helped many people to pass their driving test. On the other hand you could be taught by a trainee instructor, one who is still learning how to teach and how to communicate the skills required in order to pass a driving test. Who would you rather choose?

Most people would prefer to receive driving tuition from the expert. And that is what you will receive from 2Pass.eu Driving School Instructors in Dundee.

Driving Instructors: Better Than An Empty Parking Lot

On any given Sunday morning, in the empty parking lot of a department store, you are sure to find an uncertain car with a teenager at the wheel and a very nervous parent as passenger. Learning to drive is a time-honoured tradition and represents a transition from child to young adult. Though many parents may dread the day that their child comes up to them dangling the keys and begging for lessons, they eventually give in and teach their child how to drive. However, this act may not be the smartest or even the safest.

Using a driving instructor is a helpful way to teach teenagers to drive in a structured and safe environment. And while parents mean well and truly want their children to learn properly, driving instructors will not pass on bad habits to the teenager that parents may do absent-mindedly. Driving instructors are highly trained and understand how to teach the skills needed to ensure that the teenager or any new driver can pass the driving test and maintain safe habits throughout their driving careers.

Driving schools and instructors often have their own cars that will be used to teach the student. At the end of the course, the student will use this car on the driving test. The instructorÕs car will be very well maintained and will pass the stringent requirements for the car in order to be used in the actual test. This will benefit the student since being at ease and comfortable with the vehicle will make it far easier to pass the test.

The instructors begin at the basics when teaching a new student. They start with the car, making sure the student is familiarized with basic driving features and engine components. Once this is done, such skills as braking smoothly, turning, parking and reversing are explored. The instructor will determine when the student is ready for more advanced skills and will work with the student at their own pace until all the skills are honed. Driving instructors understand all the nuances and laws of the road and can easily communicate them to the student in such a manner as to be easily understood.

Unlike parents or other would-be instructors, a trained and professional driving instructor has the ability to teach the skills that students will need not only to simply pass the test, but to maintain safe driving behaviour and habits once out on the road alone.

Resolved Question: I am terrified of taking my driving test (UK)…?

I am 17 years old, and in the past I have suffered from a lot of panic attacks and anxiety (I’ve had CBT, drugs etc) which led me to not leaving the house through fear of vomitting. I am pretty much over that now and lead a normal life. However, all these anxieties have come back when it comes to my driving test. I know I can do it, but I cannot even think about sitting in the car for my test without feeling ill…I won’t allow myself to fail because of my nerves rather than lack of driving ability. I really don’t know what to do. I need to drive. But I need to get over this. Please help?
